Hi all!
We recently got our ropes and our peg boards up (Thanks Josh – our handyman at the gym and fellow beard haver). Let’s be honest – both require a pretty good amount of strength/skill to do as is – but luckily we have a ton of adaptations and other uses for both!
We will be releasing a how to and progression video hopefully tomorrow (Tuesday 9/4). Everyone at the gym can do at least the most basic progression.
5am and 8am Bootcampers! You will be the first to let me coach you through it. Be ready 😉
Climbing a Rope
We have 5 ropes with (soon) a mark on each rope that you should not climb above until you are 100% comfortable – it is about the average height of one accession up.
If doing a heavy rope workout, we will lay pads below. NOTE – if you fall from a height, depending on age and other factors, you risk breaking something. To mitigate this, if you have no desire to climb a rope, we have a lot of options that do not involve you doing anything crazier then a pullup on a bar.
Can’t climb a rope?
Rope Rows/Feet on ground Climbs — Rope J Hook Hangs — Rope Pullups (Mod or RX) — Rope Climb 1 Accension — Rope Climb — More Crazy
That order is what we will be teaching in all classes. Don’t ever want to leave the floor? No need! Just hangout with rows or pullups – both are hard as heck and I do both regularly to help my climb and other movements!
Climbing a Peg Board
We have 5 peg boards, 2 set low, 2 set average height, 1 set for you tall people.
If doing a heavy peg board workout, we will lay pads below. NOTE – if you fall from a height, depending on age and other factors, you risk breaking something. To mitigate this, if you have no desire to climb a peg board, we have some modifications that will allow you to modify!
Can’t climb a peg board?
Holds from a peg board — Toe Pullups from a box — Pullups from a peg board — Climbing — More crazy
That order is what we will be teaching in all classes. Don’t ever want to leave the floor? No need! Just hang or do the toe pullups or the full pull-up!
